Yet this book would also be great if you've not read the previous two as you'll probably be very suprised by what happens. Kelly Ann is a fun, realistic girl who is going through all sorts of changes that are easy to relate to. She's hilarious and pulls readers into her story easily. MY DATING DISASTERS DIARY is sure to be a fast read for many. Just one part of a series, once this book ends, teen girls can go along with Kelly Ann in the next novel. Personally, I'd love to read more! Reviewed by: Lauren Ashley This series is hilarious! It's funny, clever and is guaranteed to brighten even the worst of days. The embarrassing situations that main character Kelly Ann gets herself into are just plain ridiculous meeting Prince Charles with toothpaste all over her face, for instance , and are so cringeworthy you can't help but be grateful it never happened to you. My Dating Disasters Diary is a prequel of sorts, and takes place a year before the first book, My Desperate Love Diary. We find out more about the characters and their friendships, and discover just how mad Kelly Ann really is. Filled with snogging, boys and the general problems that accompany growing up, My Dating Disaster's Diary is a must-read for fans of Louise Rennison and diary style teen stories. I really hope Liz Rettig will write another book in this series, as I'm already itching for more! Oh, and if there's one thing this book has taught me, it's to never wash your hair in vinegar. Unless you want to smell like a chip shop. Kelly Ann loves football and computer games and doesn't really understand what the fuss is about when it comes to boys. She loves boys, but not in the romantic sense. Her best mate is a boy called Chris and she hopes nothing will ever change their excellent friendship. But she's feeling the pressure to find a boy to kiss, and pretty soon there are complications in her friendships and her life... This book is a prequel - it's Kelly Ann's story immediately before My Desperate Love Diary and My Now or Never Diary. It introduces Kelly Ann, a brilliantly feisty and fun character, who is always getting herself into trouble in one way or another. In fact, this book contains some of her most hilarious adventures yet. She's surrounded by a cast of lovable and brilliantly-drawn characters, including her down-to-earth parents and her psychology-obsessed best friend Liz. And, of course, the wonderful Chris. I loved reading this book and knowing what happens next - it was such fun to spot the clues to future events, and I felt so engaged with the characters and the story that there were moments when I wanted to tell Kelly Ann what was in store for her. I think it would be a wonderful introduction to Kelly Ann's world for people who haven't yet read the other diaries, and I'll definitely be re-reading them now. And so are My Desperate Love Diary, My Now or Never Diary and Jumping to Confusions. This book made me laugh out loud on so many occasions! I love these Kelly Ann books! They're my favourite series. They're totally underrated in my opinion. They are funny and believable, unlike some books which seem too unrealistic or over the top.. Anyway, this book comes before the other two books and , so it introduces 14-year-old Kelly Ann and Liz, and shows them meeting Stephanie. The funniest bit in my opinion is the Prince Charles bit, hehe ; And the bit in the Catholic school! And the bit where she faints! I loved reading the book knowing what happens next in the next two books. Yet this book would also be great if you've not read the previous two as you'll probably be very suprised by what happens.
